All current and admitted students need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any required verification documents every year to be eligible for financial aid. If you do not submit the FAFSA or required verification documents, you will need to pay the full semester tuition before enrolling in classes. 

We determine financial need through a careful review of your financial circumstances. Currently, enrolled students must reapply each year to be eligible for financial aid. 

The FAFSA is required to apply for federal financial aid. The IRS Data Retrieval Tool is available to safely link your tax data directly from the IRS to your FAFSA.

Students are not billed directly for books and supplies, food and housing, and personal expenses. Instead, the cost of attendance for financial aid is based on average expenses for students. The average is determined by surveying students.

 

 

Students and families facing severe financial hardship due to recent loss of income, extraordinarily high medical expenses, or business decline may submit a request for appeal.

The Financial Aid Student Handbook will provide information on our financial aid policies. 

After filing a FAFSA form, students may be randomly selected for a review process called "Verification" by the Department of Education. During Verification, the Financial Aid Office is required to verify the accuracy of the information reported on your FAFSA form. Additional documentation may be needed as part of this verification process.

We are providing this information to the public as a federal requirement of schools to provide an annual notice to all enrolled students describing the availability of the required consumer information.

 

How awarding works

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once we have reviewed your information and determined your demonstrated need, you will be notified of your award for the coming year. All aid awarded is need-based. 

The grant component could be made up of the following funds:

Federal

• Pell Grant - This grant is awarded to students based on their Federal Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by filing the FAFSA.
• SEOG Grant - This grant fund, allocated to colleges by the federal government, is awarded to our neediest students who are also receiving a Pell Grant.

Institutional

• Reach University Scholarship - Institutional Grant need-based funding
• Reach University Impact Awards - Institutional award based on the state of residence, award amounts may vary.
• Reach University Access Award - Institutional Grant need-based funding

 

disbursements

Financial aid will be applied directly to your student account to pay for tuition. There are institutional and federal guidelines for checking eligibility before disbursement. If you have any outstanding documents that need to be completed in order to disburse your aid, they will be listed on the student portal.

Aid Disbursed by Outside Agencies: The grants, scholarships and funding students receive from outside agencies (state, local, private) are disbursed to the student's account as they are received from the outside agency.

The Financial Aid Office is responsible for ensuring that students do not receive more financial aid than federal and state eligibility rules allow for, and Reach University is charged with making adjustments as needed.

Financial Aid is determined separately each year based on a number of criteria. Eligibility for one school year does not guarantee future eligibility. To determine eligibility for federal aid, you must:
