The Minden Press-Herald recently highlighted the progress of Webster Parish employees pursuing careers in teaching. During the district’s January school board meeting, Director of Personnel Dr. Rebecca Wilson shared that seven Webster Parish paraprofessionals have completed their program with Reach University and moved into teaching positions within the district. She also noted that Webster Parish is now hiring Reach graduates.
Their progress reflects the idea behind Reach’s Apprenticeship Degree and its ABCs: an affordable degree based in the workplace that provides credit for learning on the job. For paraprofessionals already serving students in Webster Parish schools, that means their work can be part of their college experience as they work toward becoming teachers.
